Resilience

On Thursday, I had a photoshoot with a photographer and an assistant editor from St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles magazine. I was extremely excited about this opportunity and a little nervous. I was diagnosed with an Essential Tremor years ago (which ultimately caused me to stop taking portrait photos), so by performing in front of an audience, it can be a little nerve-wracking. Essential Tremor is a neurological disorder that causes involuntary shaking.

I waited for this opportunity to create a piece I had in my mind for a while. My ideas and color selections were waiting to flow on the canvas. The title of the painting is called Resilience. Resilience is about my feelings of overcoming illness and declaring hope and color in the future.

The painting has a red area that represents a heart pumping. The heart is pumping colors that are expressive of survival, forgiveness, joy, and love. I believe that it is a process to overcome obstacles, but eventually, you will be resilient.

As an empath, this piece of work represents my thought processes and feelings. I'm healing from the past and looking forward to my future.

This painting will be for sale through Divinemoira Studio and will be featured (my creative process) in the September issue of St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles.
